A coalition of youth groups in the Niger Delta has expressed strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, attributing it to the excellent performance of the current leadership of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). More than 20 youth groups, including the Crusaders for Niger Delta Community Development (CNDCD) and the Niger Delta Youth Coalition for Peace and Progress (NDYCPP), made this statement after a meeting to review the commission’s progress since the current board was inaugurated.
The groups, who toured various projects completed and ongoing across the region, praised the leadership of Samuel Ogbuku for its dedication to the region’s development. In a communiqué released after their meeting, the youth leaders commended Dr. Ogbuku and his team for their people-focused initiatives, which have greatly improved the quality of life in the region.
The communiqué, read by Pastor Jude Olayinka of NDYCPP, thanked President Tinubu for appointing Ogbuku and his team, calling them a perfect fit for the role. The youth groups noted that, for the first time in the NDDC’s history, the commission is effectively addressing the developmental and human capacity needs of the people.

The groups also praised the NDDC’s non-politicized operations, which they said allow for the inclusion of all Niger Delta people, regardless of political affiliation. They highlighted the current leadership’s success in areas such as educational scholarships, including foreign scholarships, and its commitment to completing abandoned projects. Despite the usual political challenges associated with such projects, Ogbuku and his team have ensured the completion of initiatives started by previous administrations.
