The House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions has warned that it will order the immediate arrest of the Managing Director of Indorama Eleme Petrochemical Limited, located in Rivers State, if he fails to appear before the committee on Wednesday. This follows a petition filed against the company by the Nsisan-Obari Royal Palace Alesa Council of Chiefs, which accuses Indorama of violating the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and causing potential unrest in the Niger Delta region.

Committee Chairman, Mike Etaba, issued the threat after a motion was passed expressing strong disapproval of the company’s repeated failure to attend the hearings despite multiple invitations. Etaba instructed that the Inspector General of Police be notified to bring the managing director to Abuja if he does not show up for the next hearing.

“We cannot tolerate corporate entities ignoring the law and acting without regard for the people of Nigeria. The impunity must end. If the MD fails to appear next time, the IG will bring him here,” Etaba declared.
