Bonny island experience oil spillage at shell terminal

An oil spill occurred at the Shell loading terminal in Nigeria’s Delta region after a pipeline ruptured, according to the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) on Sunday. The spill, which took place on Saturday at the Bonny terminal, has reached the shoreline, and NIMASA is actively monitoring the situation.

The agency reassured the public, stating that it is committed to minimizing the spill’s impact and restoring the affected areas. NIMASA is collaborating with Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) and other stakeholders to assess the damage and determine subsequent actions. SPDC has already shut down the affected pipeline and deployed containment booms to protect nearby communities.
