In a statement marking the beginning of December, General Ayebi Sylvester Sofiyegha, Head of the Ondo State Liaison Office for the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), reaffirmed the commitment of the programme under the leadership of Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro to the continued development of the Niger Delta and the upliftment of ex-agitators in the region. He urged all ex-agitators in Ondo State to lend their unwavering support to Dr. Otuaro, who has been instrumental to the Programme’s efforts in bringing about lasting peace and economic growth in the area.

The statement also addressed recent unfounded allegations aimed at undermining the administration’s integrity. General Sofiyegha emphasised that the PAP unequivocally rejects these baseless insinuations; noting that they were based on unverified or inaccurate information. He stressed that such reports do not reflect the true state of affairs within the programme and are a distraction from the critical work being done.

“We urge the media and the public to exercise caution and responsibility when disseminating stories that could harm the progress made under Dr. Otuaro’s leadership,” Sofiyegha said. “These attacks are not only misleading but also serve to cause unnecessary confusion. We call for constructive dialogue and collaboration to further the noble cause of the PAP.”

General Sofiyegha assured the people of Ondo State and the Niger Delta region that the PAP, under Dr. Otuaro’s leadership remains resolute in its mission to empower ex-agitators and support the sustainable development of the region. The programme will continue to operate with transparency, accountability, and integrity, adhering to the highest standards of governance.

He concluded by calling on all stakeholders to disregard the divisive claims and instead focus on contributing to the positive changes that the Presidential Amnesty Programme is fostering in the region.
