Okpebholo sacks Governing Councils of all State-owned Tertiary Institutions
Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has ordered the immediate dissolution of the Governing Councils of all state-owned tertiary institutions and the disengagement of management staff at Edo Specialist Hospital and Stella Obasanjo Hospital in Benin City.
The Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, conveyed the directive in a special announcement on Wednesday, emphasizing the urgency of compliance.
“It is hereby announced for the information of the general public that the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the dissolution of the Governing Councils of all state-owned tertiary institutions in Edo State with immediate effect,” the statement read.
Ikhilor instructed members of the dissolved councils to hand over all government properties in their possession to the heads of their respective institutions without delay.
Similarly, the disengagement of the management staff of Edo Specialist Hospital and Stella Obasanjo Hospital was confirmed, with the affected personnel directed to transfer government assets to the most senior officers within their respective establishments.
The announcement signals a significant shake-up in Edo State’s educational and healthcare administration, reflecting Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to restructuring and enhancing institutional efficiency.
