With a massive show of political force, the All Progressives Congress (APC) convened a grand rally in Benin City, Edo State, on Saturday, September 14, 2024, as the clock ticks down to the September 21st gubernatorial poll.
The event was a political spectacle, drawing a sea of supporters and featuring a lineup of APC heavyweights, including Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The rally was a strategic move to galvanize support for the APC’s governorship candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and his running mate.
The party’s top brass, including Governors Aiyedatiwa, Sanwo-Olu, and others, descended on Benin City to energize the party faithful and mobilize them for the electoral battle ahead.
Vice President Shettima delivered a blistering speech, touting the APC candidate’s grassroots credentials and governance chops.
He assured the crowd that President Tinubu was committed to a free and fair election and emphasized the imperative of peace during the political contest.
Other APC chieftains, including Senate President Akpabio and the party’s gubernatorial standard-bearer, Okpebholo, took to the stage to make a passionate case for change in Edo State.
They promised a new era of prosperity, development, and good governance, vowing to revive the state’s economy and restore its lost glory.
The APC’s campaign machinery, led by Director General Matthew Urhoghide and National Campaign Council Chairman Bassey Otu, went into overdrive, criticizing the incumbent PDP administration for its alleged failures and urging voters to demand a better deal.
As the rally reached its crescendo, APC National Chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje declared that the party was poised for victory, buoyed by its grassroots support and the popularity of its candidate. He pledged that an APC victory would usher in a new era of development, modern infrastructure, and prosperity for Edo State.
