PDP Ajayi urges party unity ahead of polls
Agboola Ajayi, the governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, has urged party leaders, members, and stakeholders to unite and present a united front to regain the party’s influential position. He expressed confidence that the PDP could restore the state’s former prominence if elected in the upcoming governorship elections in Edo and Ondo States.
Ajayi stressed the importance of party unity for securing victory in the upcoming elections, including the one in Edo State this weekend and the Ondo State election on November 16. He noted that recent events in Benin demonstrated widespread dissatisfaction with the APC government and a desire for change.
He stated that the PDP is seen as the key to Nigeria’s recovery due to its proven track record in managing people and the economy. Ajayi highlighted the party’s strong support for the Edo election as a sign of its readiness to tackle the challenge of rescuing Nigeria from its current leadership.
Ajayi also promised to enhance the status of women by providing significant financial empowerment and exceeding the 35 percent representation quota if elected. He urged women to mobilize their families and communities to vote for the PDP.
In a meeting with PDP women leaders from all local government areas, Ajayi committed to upholding the UN’s gender equality standards from the day he takes office. The women, who were mainly key party leaders, pledged to work diligently for the party’s success.
Mrs. Folake Sarunmi, a former women leader in the party, encouraged women to actively support Agboola and the PDP, acknowledging that women’s involvement is crucial for electoral success. She expressed gratitude for the party’s recognition of women and assured Ajayi that they would work hard to secure victory in the November 16 election. The women also requested adequate security and support from the party leadership to ensure their effectiveness on election day.
