Parents of Full-Grown Man Who ‘Raped’ 14-Year-old Girl in Lagos ‘Trying to Bury the Case’
The police have failed to arrest Akeem Akewe, a resident of Akewe Street, Opeloyeru bus stop, Alakuko in Lagos, who has been accused of raping a 14-year-old girl.
A neighbour, who spoke with FIJ, fingered Akewe as the pedophile who raped the 14-year-old in Alakuko on Monday night.
She also told FIJ that Akewe, aged between 30 and 40, lured the minor into his home and raped her. She added that the 14-year-old victim lives with her family, who are tenants in a house owned by Akewe’s parents.
“He is the landlord’s son. He lured her into his house and raped her on Monday night. Her mother has down syndrome and her father is uneducated,” she told FIJ.
“His parents are trying to bury the case because they know the condition her parents are in. She reported him to her parents yesterday, but his family are trying to beg her family to bury the case and forget about it.”
She also told FIJ that she contacted the police and gave them all the necessary information, but they failed to show up and arrest Akewe, the perpetrator.
“I called the police, but they are not saying anything,” she said. “None of them has come to arrest him. They answered the call when I made it. I gave them all the information they requested. They should have taken action, but nothing has been done.”
In videos seen by FIJ, the 14-year-old victim had blood stains on her trousers and was in pains as she attempted to walk. FIJ also learned that she is receiving medical treatment at a hospital.
FIJ called Ben Hundeyin, the Lagos Police PRO, but he did not respond. A text message sent to his mobile phone was also unresponded to at press time.
