Aiyedatiwa Promises Enhanced Support for Women at NCWS Summit

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the inclusion and empowerment of women across all levels of government. Speaking at a women’s summit organized by the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS), Ondo State chapter, at the International Culture and Events Center, Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized the importance of gender inclusivity for the state’s development and progress.

 

Governor Aiyedatiwa promised to increase women’s representation in governance, highlighting their trustworthiness and capacity to drive growth and development. “Our administration will continue to ensure gender inclusiveness which is crucial for development and progress,” he stated.

 

He also detailed ongoing efforts to support parents and alleviate the burdens of parenthood. This year, the state government covered WAEC fees for children in public secondary schools and is working on plans for bursaries and scholarships. In collaboration with the Federal Government, the state aims to make food available and affordable, with an Agriculture and Food Security Committee actively addressing food security issues. “Our commitment to ensuring that no family goes to bed hungry in Ondo State is total,” he added.

 

Addressing the upcoming gubernatorial election on November 16, 2024, Governor Aiyedatiwa urged mothers to prevent their children from being exploited by self-serving politicians, stressing the need for a peaceful, free, and fair election.

 

In her welcome address, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Deaconess Lola Fagbemi, praised Governor Aiyedatiwa as a women-friendly governor, noting his dedication to women’s welfare and  empowerment.
