US Mission Urges Nigerian Travellers To Strictly Comply With Immigration Rules
The United States Mission in Nigeria has reminded Nigerian travellers to comply strictly with U.S. immigration regulations and visa conditions during their stay in the country.
The advisory was issued in a statement shared through the Mission’s official 𝕏 platform, where applicants were encouraged to adhere to authorised periods of stay, maintain valid travel documentation and avoid actions that could affect future travel opportunities.
According to the Mission, respecting immigration rules remains essential for preserving access to future educational, work and travel opportunities in the United States.
“Staying compliant with U.S. immigration laws isn’t just the right thing to do; it protects your future and keeps opportunities open for Nigerian travelers,” the statement read.
The reminder comes amid continued efforts by U.S. authorities to address visa overstays and strengthen the integrity of the country’s immigration system.
The Mission advised Nigerians travelling for studies, employment, business or tourism purposes to ensure full compliance with all conditions attached to their visas.
“Whether you’re studying, working, or visiting the United States, always honour the terms of your visa. Follow the rules. Stay only for as long as you are authorized. Keep your documents updated. Make choices that safeguard your dreams,” the statement added.
The U.S. Mission further noted that respecting immigration procedures supports both individual travel goals and broader bilateral relations between Nigeria and the United States.
“When you respect the process, everyone wins,” the statement concluded.
The Mission explained that such measures are aimed at protecting the credibility of the visa system and ensuring continued access for genuine and law-abiding travellers.
