The Delta State Government has approved a welfare support package for candidates participating in the ongoing Nigerian Army 91st Regular Recruits Intake Screening Exercise taking place in Asaba.

The intervention comes as the screening exercise entered its tenth day and is aimed at easing the financial burden on shortlisted candidates while ensuring a more comfortable and organised recruitment process.

According to a statement made available to defence correspondents in Abuja by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Directorate of Recruitment, Captain Abubakar Umar Hammanga, the Director-General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, disclosed that the initiative received approval from Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

The statement explained that the state government introduced the support package to assist candidates with the challenges associated with participating in the screening exercise.

As part of the intervention, candidates are receiving daily welfare support throughout the exercise.

The government has also provided accommodation materials, including foams and bedding, in addition to transportation services to ease movement to and from designated locations during the recruitment process.

The recruitment screening exercise is expected to conclude on June 23, and authorities have urged all shortlisted applicants who are yet to report at the screening centre to do so before the deadline.

Officials warned that failure to participate within the stipulated period may affect candidates’ chances of progressing in the recruitment exercise.

The statement further disclosed that the Commander of 63 Brigade, Brigadier General F. Shonibare, and the Director of Recruitment, Brigadier General I. Sule, visited the screening centre during the exercise.

During the visit, the senior military officers encouraged candidates to remain disciplined, focused and committed throughout the screening process.

They assured participants that the recruitment exercise would be conducted fairly, transparently and strictly on merit.

The officers also urged candidates to give their best performance at every stage as they pursue opportunities to serve in the Nigerian Army.
