Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has convened an emergency security council meeting following renewed attacks and destruction of government property in parts of the state.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.

According to the statement, the emergency meeting became necessary due to increasing security concerns and alleged political violence ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State.

The meeting, scheduled to hold at the Governor’s Office, is expected to bring together security chiefs and service commanders operating within the state.

The state government stated that deliberations would focus on the growing cases of violence, thuggery, and attacks reportedly linked to political activities involving supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Governor Adeleke described the situation as disturbing and called for urgent intervention by security agencies to prevent further escalation of violence.

He also questioned the continued attacks on public property without corresponding arrests by security operatives, stressing the need for stronger enforcement and accountability.

According to the governor, the security council meeting will also explore measures to restore public confidence in the capacity of security agencies to maintain peace and order across the state.

The latest security concerns come amid reports of the killing of Kolade Eluyera, son of the Accord Party Women Leader in Ikire, located in Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State.
