A Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Citizenship and Leadership, Nasir Bala Aminu, has resigned from his position ahead of the 2027 general elections.

His resignation comes in compliance with a directive issued by the President, mandating all political appointees with ambitions to contest elective offices in 2027 to step down on or before March 31, 2026.

In his resignation letter, Aminu popularly known as Ja’oji expressed gratitude to the President for the opportunity to serve, describing his appointment as a testament to the administration’s commitment to youth inclusion and leadership development.

He noted that his elevation into public office reflected the government’s confidence in the capacity of young Nigerians to contribute meaningfully to national progress.

The former aide reaffirmed his loyalty to the administration and pledged his continued willingness to serve the country in any capacity if called upon in the future.

He also praised the government’s “Renewed Hope Initiative,” describing it as a key driver of policies aimed at fostering national growth and development.

Although Aminu did not officially declare the position he intends to contest, his resignation is widely interpreted as a move to pursue an elective office in the 2027 elections.

Reports indicate that he may be eyeing a seat in the House of Representatives, specifically the Tarauni Federal Constituency.

His exit marks one of the early political shifts ahead of the 2027 general elections, as potential aspirants begin to position themselves in line with existing electoral guidelines.
