Iran Expands War Threat, Puts Hotels Hosting US Soldiers at Risk
Iran’s military has cautioned that any hotels accommodating US troops in the region could be treated as legitimate targets in its conflict with the United States and Israel.
Speaking on state television, armed forces spokesman Abolfazl Shekarchi said that once American forces occupy a hotel, it is considered a US-linked location and could be struck in retaliation.
He questioned whether Iran should remain passive while being attacked, adding that any response would naturally target US positions wherever they are found.
Tensions escalated after strikes launched on February 28 by Israel and the United States reportedly killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, sparking a wider regional conflict.
Since then, Iran has carried out drone and missile attacks on Israeli territory and US-linked interests.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, accused US troops of using civilians in Gulf Cooperation Council countries as “human shields.”
In a post on X, he claimed that American forces had left military bases and were sheltering in hotels and office buildings, urging hospitality providers to deny them accommodation.
According to Iran’s Fars News Agency, the country has issued strong warnings to hotels across the region, particularly in the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
The report also stated that similar US deployments have been identified in Syria, Lebanon, and Djibouti.
Iran has accused neighboring countries of allowing US forces to use their territories to launch attacks, but Gulf states have consistently denied these claims, maintaining that they have not permitted their land or airspace to be used against Iran.
