Niger Delta activist, Asari Dokubo, has denied being the individual featured in a viral video criticising President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the current economic hardship in Nigeria.

The clarification follows widespread circulation of a video showing a man who closely resembles Dokubo, openly calling on the president to step down amid rising living costs and worsening economic conditions.

In the video, the unidentified man lamented the increasing cost of petrol and basic commodities, arguing that Nigerians were facing severe hardship.

Due to the striking resemblance, many social media users assumed the speaker was Dokubo, who is widely known as a supporter of the president.

Reacting in a separate video, Dokubo dismissed the claims, stating clearly that the person seen in the footage is not him but his brother.

According to him, the man is identified as Theophilus, whom he described as his “brother from Bayelsa State,” while he himself hails from Rivers State.

“I’m not the one in the video. He is my brother… Don’t mistake me for him,” Dokubo said, urging the public to stop linking him to the remarks.

Dokubo further reiterated his relationship with President Tinubu, describing him as a friend and maintaining that the president should be allowed to complete his tenure.

The development has continued to generate mixed reactions online, with debates over the identity of the man in the viral video and the broader concerns raised about the country’s economic situation.
