A key voice from the Niger Delta, and leader of the Southern youth Movement, High Chief Promise Lawuru, has commended the Federal Government’s pipeline surveillance framework, asserting that the initiative is producing measurable progress and delivering on its mandate.

Speaking during a media engagement in Warri, Delta State, the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) said, the decision to involve private security operators has significantly improved the protection of oil infrastructure.

High Chief Lawuru, who is an aspirant, house of representatives, Warri Federal Constituency, specifically praised Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, noting that its role in pipeline monitoring has brought visible changes across affected communities.

The Federal Government’s objectives in engaging private firms for pipeline surveillance are being realized, particularly with the outcomes delivered by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited,” he said.

He pointed to a drop in illegal bunkering activities, tighter surveillance of critical assets, and stronger collaboration with local communities as evidence of progress under the current arrangement.

While applauding the results, Lawuru cautioned authorities against abandoning or weakening the existing system, stressing that consistency remains key to sustaining the gains.

Any shift away from strategies that are already working could undermine the progress achieved so far. The government must remain focused if it intends to secure lasting results,” he warned.

His remarks come amid ongoing national discussions about the effectiveness of pipeline security policies and the role of private firms in Nigeria’s oil sector.

Analysts note that Lawuru’s position echoes the sentiments of many stakeholders in the Niger Delta, where improved security and reduced oil theft have begun to stabilize operations and restore confidence in the region.

With debates continuing, his message is clear: maintaining proven strategies may be critical to preserving recent successes in safeguarding the nation’s oil assets.
