A strong coalition of security agencies on Monday staged a high-visibility patrol across Ondo State, in a coordinated move aimed at deterring criminal activity and restoring public confidence in safety across the state.

The exercise, led by the Ondo State Police Command, brought together operatives of the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Amotekun Corps.

The joint operation saw a large deployment of personnel and patrol assets across major routes and high-risk locations in Akure and nearby communities.

Residents observed long convoys of security vehicles and armed officers moving through key parts of the state in what authorities described as a deliberate show of operational strength.

The patrol targeted areas prone to crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, and cult-related violence.

According to the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, the initiative is part of a sustained strategy to confront security threats before they escalate.

He noted that the coordinated patrol reflects a united front among security agencies and reinforces their readiness to respond swiftly to criminal activities.

The objective is clear to ensure residents can carry on with their daily activities without fear, while sending a strong signal that there is no space for criminal elements within the state,” the police chief stated.

He added that intelligence-led policing and inter-agency cooperation remain central to ongoing efforts to maintain order, urging residents to play an active role by reporting suspicious movements within their communities.

The police command also acknowledged the support of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, whose leadership and guidance were credited with strengthening recent operations.

Security authorities emphasized that public cooperation remains critical, particularly during patrols and other enforcement activities, as agencies continue to consolidate gains made in tackling insecurity.

The latest operation underscores deepening collaboration among security outfits in Ondo, as authorities intensify efforts to safeguard lives and property while responding to evolving security challenges.
