No Roads, No Schools, No Hospitals!” – Sowore Blasts Aiyedatiwa’s Failed Leadership as Ondo Hits 50

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has criticised the Ondo State Government over the planned public holiday to mark the state’s 50th anniversary, saying citizens should instead declare a day of mourning over poor governance.

In a strongly worded statement, Sowore alleged that the golden jubilee celebration under the administration of Governor Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has been reduced to “spectacle and fluff,” with little tangible development to justify the festivities.

He claimed there are no refurbished schools, no new bridges, no completed roads, no hospitals to commission, and no significant security achievements, accusing the government of prioritising pageantry over meaningful progress.

Sowore further argued that Ondo State, at 50, is not celebrating development or renewal but “dancing around stagnation,” while governance, according to him, remains largely absent.

The Ondo State Government has yet to respond to the allegations as preparations for the anniversary celebrations continue.
