FUBARA APPROVES IMMEDIATE EMPLOYMENT FOR CHILDREN OF FALLEN HEROES
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has directed that children of servicemen who lost their lives while serving Nigeria should be employed without delay in the state.
Naija News reports that the directive was issued on Thursday during the Armed Forces Remembrance Ceremony held at the Government House, Port Harcourt, as part of activities marking the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
The governor instructed the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba, to ensure the immediate implementation of the employment plan for affected families.
Governor Fubara explained that the decision forms part of the state government’s broader commitment to supporting the Armed Forces, other security agencies, and the families of officers who paid the ultimate price in active service.
According to him, caring for the families of fallen heroes is both a moral obligation and a social responsibility, aimed at providing economic stability and relief after their painful loss.
The governor further assured that Rivers State would continue to collaborate closely with military formations within the state by providing welfare and logistical support to enhance their operational effectiveness.
He commended Nigerian troops serving across various regions of the country, including those combating Boko Haram and insurgency in the North-East, as well as personnel tackling banditry and kidnapping in the North-West and North-Central.
Fubara also acknowledged ongoing security operations in the South-East and South-South, where forces are working to curb pipeline vandalism, crude oil theft, and other land and maritime crimes.
During the ceremony, the governor paid tribute to soldiers who died during the First and Second World Wars, the Nigerian Civil War, international peacekeeping missions, and recent internal security operations.
He equally praised President Bola Tinubu for initiatives aimed at improving the welfare, equipment, and overall capacity of the Nigerian military, while addressing the nation’s security challenges.
