Lawuru to Serve as Guest of Honour at Ijaw Media Conference 2025
The President of Egbema Brotherhood, Alaowei Promise Lawuru, has accepted the invitation to serve as Guest of Honour at the upcoming Ijaw Media Conference 2025, the second edition of the annual gathering organized by the Ijaw Publishers Forum (IPF).
This year’s conference, themed “Safeguarding Niger Delta’s Natural Resources for Future Generations,” focuses on strengthening public awareness, promoting responsible reportage, and encouraging leaders to protect the region’s environmental heritage.
Lawuru received the invitation on Monday when a delegation of the Central Working Committee, led by the President of the Forum, Pastor Arex Akemotubo, paid him a visit. During the engagement, Akemotubo said the theme was carefully chosen due to the increasing pressure on the Niger Delta’s land and waterways, stressing the need for collaborative efforts to preserve the environment.
Akemotubo, who is also the Publisher of WaffiTV, noted that the forum aims to deepen public understanding, support transparent journalism, and encourage policy decisions that secure the region’s future. He added that Lawuru’s track record of service and consistent involvement in community development made him a fitting choice for the honour.
In his remarks, Chief Lawuru expressed gratitude for the recognition and commended the Ijaw Publishers Forum for its commitment to defending the interests of the Niger Delta through media advocacy. He emphasized the importance of shared responsibility among stakeholders and assured the committee of his full support for the conference.
Lawuru further called on leaders and institutions across the Ijaw nation to lend their voice and influence to efforts geared toward safeguarding the environment and preserving the region’s resources for future generations.
