In a bold and symbolic move that signals a generational shift in leadership consciousness, the Ondo State Children’s Parliament has taken a giant stride toward governance by understudying the Ondo State House of Assembly (ODHA).

During a powerful courtesy visit that left legislators impressed and inspired, the child parliamentarians made their presence felt, emphasizing the urgent need to prioritize child welfare in state legislation.

The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, addressing the young delegates, assured them of the Assembly’s unwavering commitment to enacting policies that safeguard and elevate the lives of children across the state.

“We are not just lawmakers; we are stakeholders in the future of Ondo,” the Speaker declared. “And that future begins with the children.”

Ifeoluwa Omosule, reporting from Akure, noted that the engagement wasn’t just ceremonial — it was a vivid demonstration of leadership continuity, as today’s children prepare to take on the reins of tomorrow’s governance.

The Ondo State Children’s Parliament, a body representing the voice of the younger generation, expressed readiness to learn the intricacies of lawmaking, policy design, and oversight functions. They described the visit as “a defining step toward building a more inclusive, youth-oriented legislative future.”

With a renewed pledge from ODHA to advance child-friendly laws and strengthen youth inclusion in governance, the stage is now set for a brighter, more participatory future in Ondo State.
