Renowned Niger Delta activist and National President of the Ijaw People’s Development Initiative (IPDI), Comrade Ozobo Austin, has strongly defended High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, against recent accusations of naira abuse allegedly investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Ozobo dismissed the viral video suggesting that Tompolo was involved in spraying money, calling it a deceptive narrative lacking credible evidence. He argued that it is wrong to associate Tompolo with the actions of unknown individuals and criticized those promoting the video for misleading the public.

According to him, elements benefiting from oil theft and certain envious individuals may have misinformed the EFCC in a bid to tarnish Tompolo’s image. He described the development as a calculated attempt to discredit a man who has consistently respected the rule of law.

Ozobo urged the EFCC to focus on identifying the actual culprits behind the naira abuse instead of targeting an innocent figure. He warned against dragging Tompolo’s name into baseless controversies that could disturb the peace in the Niger Delta.

The activist also cautioned mischief-makers to redirect their energy toward productive activities and shun cheap propaganda. He maintained that Tompolo will not respond to social media provocations or those he described as uninformed critics.

He appealed to the EFCC to remain impartial and resist manipulation by bad actors or sensational online influencers who might derail the agency from its core mandate.
