Scores Confirmed Dead In Anambra Tanker-Bus Crash

A fatal accident at Ukpo Junction on the Nteje-Awka Road in Anambra State has resulted in the deaths of eight people and left six others injured, according to the Anambra Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

The Sector Commander, Mrs. Joyce Alexander, confirmed the incident in a statement to the press on Monday in Awka. She said the crash occurred on Sunday night and involved a Mack tanker with no visible number plate and a Toyota Hiace bus bearing the registration number EKP375XM.

Initial findings and eyewitness reports suggest the bus, which was traveling from Abakaliki to Onitsha, was moving at high speed and attempted a dangerous overtake before colliding head-on with the tanker, which was heading towards Awka on a single-lane road.
