In a tragic incident on Tuesday morning, gunmen believed to be herdsmen attacked Ajagbusi, a community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, killing three farmers who were on their way to their farmland.
Reports indicate that the victims, who were traveling together on a motorcycle, were ambushed and shot dead by the assailants, who quickly fled the scene. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, leaving the local community in mourning and disbelief.
Ondo State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olushola, confirmed the killings, describing the incident as both “gruesome and unacceptable.” He assured that the police are actively working to track down those responsible.

“Tactical teams have been deployed to the area to restore calm and pursue the attackers,” he said. He also emphasized that the police have mobilized all necessary resources to prevent further violence and to ensure justice is served.
Residents were urged to remain calm and not to resort to self-help, but rather to cooperate with law enforcement agencies. The command further assured the public of their safety, encouraging them to continue their daily routines without fear.
