As part of efforts to improve internally generated revenue and enhance grassroots development, the Executive Chairman of Ese-Odo Local Government Area, High Chief Caleb Ebimobowei Molos, on Monday, April 7, undertook an inspection tour of the Kiribo Main Market.
The Council Chairman, accompanied by the Leader of Council, Rt. Hon. Elijah Jeremiah, arrived at the market around 8:30 a.m. to assess its current state and engage directly with stakeholders.
Following the inspection, Chairman Molos interacted with youths at the market square, where the Youth President, Comrade Ilemobayo Aghone, formally welcomed him with a document highlighting various market interventions initiated by the youth body. The paper detailed recent renovations and a financial breakdown of the work carried out on some of the shops within the market.
In response, High Chief Molos applauded the youths for their initiative and contributions to community development. “I must commend you for the renovations you’ve carried out to support the government’s efforts. On behalf of the Ese-Odo Local Government, I sincerely appreciate your commitment,” he stated.
He further assured market traders of the council’s intention to improve the physical condition of the market. He urged the traders to be diligent in the payment of their levies and dues to enable the administration to implement the planned upgrades.
Traders and community members expressed joy over the visit, describing it as unprecedented. Many noted that it was the first time a sitting council chairman visited the market during an active market day, and they pledged their continued support for the Molos-led administration.
“The visit was historic and encouraging. The people are happy, and it strengthens the relationship between the government and the grassroots,” said Denis Pounah,Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman, Ese-Odo Local Government Area.
