The swearing-in of Professor Worika as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) took place on Wednesday evening at the Executive Chambers of Government House, Port Harcourt. Speaking at the ceremony, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas described Prof. Worika’s appointment as a strategic decision aimed at reinforcing the government’s commitment to law, order, and good governance.

“The responsibility ahead is immense, but your experience and dedication assure us that you are up to the task. Rivers State needs your expertise, resilience, and unwavering commitment. Together, we will shape a new era of progress for our people,” he stated.

The administrator highlighted Prof. Worika’s strong background in law, policy, and international governance, expressing confidence that he would play a key role in ensuring that government policies align with the administration’s goal of stabilizing the state and fostering democratic governance.

Reaffirming his commitment to transparency, accountability, and public service, Ibas urged the new SSG to work closely with civil servants to ensure the smooth running of government affairs.

There is no time to settle in you must immediately get to work with the team. Civil servants are essential to governance, and we must collaborate effectively to keep the state running efficiently,” he emphasized.

He also called on permanent secretaries and civil servants to extend their cooperation and support to the administration in achieving its objectives.
