YOU PROMISED TO CONFRONT U.S. TROOPS – NOW THEY’RE HERE: JUSTICE OZOBI CALLS OUT ASARI DOKUBO OVER PAST THREATS

Human rights commentator Justice Ozobi has publicly challenged former Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo, over his past statements in which he allegedly threatened to confront and eliminate American soldiers should they step foot on Nigerian soil.

Ozobi’s remarks follow recent reports indicating the presence of United States military personnel in Nigeria for security cooperation and advisory purposes. In a strongly worded statement circulating on social media, Ozobi questioned Dokubo’s silence, urging him to clarify or retract the earlier threats now that U.S. forces are reportedly in the country.

“Public declarations carry weight,” Ozobi stated. “When influential figures make extreme pronouncements, the public deserves accountability; especially when circumstances change.”

Asari Dokubo, a prominent and controversial figure in Niger Delta politics and activism, has in the past used fiery rhetoric to criticize foreign military involvement in Nigeria and what he describes as external interference in national affairs. However, no recent response has been issued by Dokubo regarding Ozobi’s challenge as of the time of filing this report.

Security analysts note that U.S.–Nigeria military engagements are typically conducted under bilateral agreements focused on training, intelligence sharing, and counterterrorism support, not combat operations.

Efforts to reach Asari Dokubo for comments were unsuccessful at press time.

The development has reignited public debate on the use of incendiary language by political actors and the broader implications for national security discourse in Nigeria.
