Yobe Police Crack Down on Violence: 18 Suspects Arrested, Charged with Arson, Looting, and Vandalism
The Yobe State Police Command has taken swift and decisive action against perpetrators of violence, arresting 18 suspects in connection with the recent destructive protests and vandalism in Nguru, Potiskum, and Gashua towns.
The suspects, who masqueraded as peaceful protesters, will face charges for their criminal acts, including setting fire to public buildings, stealing food items, and empowerment equipment.
According to DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the command’s spokesman, the suspects will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law once the investigation is complete.
The state Commissioner of Police, Garba Ahmed, has warned against the destruction of government assets and emphasized the need for peaceful assembly without infringing on the rights of others.
The police command has reiterated its commitment to upholding law and order and will not tolerate violent protests that could lead to social and economic chaos.
