Wike: “Ijaw Nation Vows to Protect Rivers State Governor – Ozobo
The Ijaw Nation has pledged to safeguard the administration of Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, from external influences, described as “strangers.” Niger Delta rights and environmental activist, Comrade Ozobo Austin, specifically pointed to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Wike Nyesom, as one such outsider who will not be allowed to destabilize the government.
Ozobo emphasized that Governor Fubara is a true “aborigine” of Rivers State, and the Ijaw people are determined to protect his administration from any disruption. As the president of the Ijaw Peoples Development Initiative (IPDI), Ozobo stressed that the Ijaw Nation has a deep interest in the success of Fubara’s government, which they believe aligns with their aspirations.
His remarks follow reports of political unrest in Rivers State, with claims of attempts to destabilize Fubara’s leadership. However, Ozobo firmly declared that the Ijaw people would not sit back and allow “strangers” to stir up trouble.
“We will not permit anyone to enter our state and cause chaos,” Ozobo asserted. “Governor Fubara is one of our own, and we will defend his administration against any external threats.”
Seen as a direct warning to those trying to undermine Fubara’s government, Ozobo’s statement underlines the critical role of the Ijaw Nation in maintaining political stability in Rivers State. Their support is viewed as essential to the success of the Fubara administration.
The response of Wike Nyesom and other so-called “strangers” to this declaration remains to be seen. Nonetheless, Ozobo made it clear: the Ijaw Nation will not allow any attempt to weaken Fubara’s government without resistance.
