The Ondo State Public Complaints, Financial Crime and Anti-Corruption Commission has urged federal anti-corruption agencies to collaborate with it in the fight against corruption within the state. The commission is committed to combating corruption and emphasized that its efforts will complement, not compete with, those of federal agencies.

Chairman Justice Williams Akintoroye (retd.) made these remarks during a capacity-building workshop for local government officials in Akure. He highlighted the detrimental impact of corruption on Nigeria’s development and called for a unified approach among anti-graft agencies.

Akintoroye assured the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of the state commission’s dedication to best practices in anti-corruption efforts. He suggested that if the EFCC had concerns about the commission’s operations, they should consider legal action to challenge the authority granted by the Ondo State House of Assembly.

State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Amidu Takuro, noted the vital role local governments play in fostering development and called for a culture of accountability. He praised Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration for promoting transparency and a strong stance against corruption, asserting that the governor’s support for the commission boosts efforts toward enhanced accountability in Ondo State.

Takuro emphasized the need for local governments to remain vigilant and adhere to principles of accountability and integrity in light of increased scrutiny.
