Facing Zimbabwe’s Warriors at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Akwa Ibom, Nigeria started the game strongly, creating multiple chances. However, a combination of resolute defending and wastefulness in front of goal prevented Eric Chelle’s men from finding an early breakthrough.
Despite persistent attacks, Nigeria struggled to break down Zimbabwe’s defense. Their efforts finally paid off in the 74th minute when Osimhen capitalized on a low cross from Simon Moses, heading the ball into the far post to give the Super Eagles a 1-0 lead.

Zimbabwe nearly responded immediately after a defensive lapse by Nigeria, but the crossbar came to the Super Eagles’ rescue.
Nigeria had another opportunity to extend their lead, but Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi failed to convert a clear chance. The Super Eagles would later regret that miss as Zimbabwe capitalized on a late defensive error. In the 90th minute, Tawanda Chirewa fired past goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali at the near post, securing a dramatic equalizer and leaving Nigeria frustrated.
