Warri-Delta State, In a vibrant demonstration of culture and unity, worshippers at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Recharge Mega Parish, Delta Province 18, gathered on Sunday to honour and celebrate the rich traditions of the Igbo people, in line with the parish’s monthly cultural showcase.

Under the spiritual tutelage of Pastor Amore Olugbenga, the parish holds a unique tradition of celebrating the diverse ethnic backgrounds of its congregation every first Sunday of the month, fostering love, inclusivity, and mutual respect among worshippers from different parts of Nigeria.

This month’s edition turned the spotlight on Igbo’s culture, transforming the atmosphere of the church into a lively scene of traditional attire, music, dance, and local cuisine.

It’s a divine opportunity to remind ourselves that in Christ, our diversity is a strength, not a division,” said Pastor Amore Olugbenga during the service. We are one body, many cultures, united in Christ. This celebration of the Igbo culture is our way of showing love and honour to our brethren.”

The service featured traditionalIgbo songs, dance performances, and even biblical readings in the Igbo language, with members enthusiastically participating in what many described as both a spiritual and cultural experience. The church hall was adorned with red and white traditional decorations, and many worshippers turned up in elegant Igbo regalia, including isiagu tops, head ties, and wrappers.

A church member, Bro Mike Ezedienor, expressed his joy: Seeing the church embrace our culture like this fills me with pride and gratitude. It’s not just a celebration; it’s a reminder that God made all tribes beautifully.”

The initiative, which began as a way to bridge cultural gaps and promote unity, has since become a beloved tradition in the parish. Each month, a different culture is featured from Yoruba to Urhobo, Isoko to Hausa, making the church a reflection of Nigeria’s rich and diverse cultural heritage.

The RCCG Recharge Mega Parish continues to lead by example, demonstrating that faith and culture can harmoniously coexist, and that the church can serve as a beacon of unity in an increasingly divided world.
