UK WARNS NIGERIANS, OTHER MIGRANTS AGAINST ILLEGAL EMPLOYMENT
The United Kingdom has issued a fresh warning to Nigerians and other migrants against engaging in jobs without proper authorisation, stressing that anyone found working illegally will face arrest, detention, and deportation.
UK authorities disclosed that enforcement actions against illegal employment have intensified across the country, with immigration raids now occurring more frequently at workplaces.
Officials said immigration enforcement teams are actively visiting businesses to identify individuals violating immigration and labour laws.
According to the UK government, migrants discovered working without valid permission will be dealt with immediately and may be removed from the country.
In a statement issued by the Home Office, the UK government reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing immigration laws, warning that illegal employment will not be tolerated.
The authorities noted that illegal work undermines the country’s labour system and disadvantages lawful workers by enabling employers to bypass regulations designed to protect wages and employment standards.
“Those caught working illegally in the UK will be arrested, detained, and removed. Immigration enforcement raids are at record levels, and individuals found working illegally will face immediate action,” the statement said.
The warning comes amid tighter border control and labour policies in the United Kingdom, with increased workplace inspections, particularly in sectors known to employ migrant labour.
