The Trade Union Congress (TUC) has expressed support for Ushie Uguamaye, also known as Raye, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member in Lagos, who alleged receiving threats after criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
TUC President Festus Osifo, speaking on Sunday Politics on Channels Television, stated that Raye’s remarks were driven by frustration and urged the government to tolerate criticism rather than target individuals expressing their grievances. However, he advised critics to voice their concerns within acceptable norms and with a degree of decorum.

Osifo emphasized that the government must acknowledge the struggles of citizens, as many are facing hardship and frustration. He argued that Raye, as a corps member, posed no real threat to the government and was merely expressing personal frustration. He called on the administration to exercise patience and understanding, given the challenges Nigerians are currently enduring.
Raye gained attention after posting a viral TikTok video in which she criticized government policies, lamenting Nigeria’s worsening economic conditions and asserting that hard work no longer ensures financial stability. She also described President Tinubu as a “terrible leader” and questioned the government’s commitment to alleviating citizens’ suffering.
Following the video, Raye claimed she was pressured allegedly by NYSC officials to delete the post. However, the NYSC has not yet issued an official statement on the matter.
