Tinubu’s UK Trip Marks First Nigerian State Visit in 37 Years

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will departs Abuja, today, for a State Visit to the United Kingdom, at the invitation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

The President will be accompanied by the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu.
According to official details, the British monarch will host the Nigerian leader and his wife at Windsor Castle from March 18 to 19.

The visit marks the first State Visit by a Nigerian leader to the United Kingdom in 37 years and the first time a Nigerian president will be received by a British monarch at Windsor Castle.

Presidency sources say the engagement is expected to reinforce bilateral ties between both countries, with key areas of interest including trade, investment and security cooperation.

A presidency official described the trip as “a significant moment in Nigeria–UK relations,” noting that it reflects “renewed efforts to deepen strategic engagement between both nations.”

The visit underscores ongoing diplomatic outreach by the Tinubu administration aimed at strengthening international partnerships and advancing economic cooperation.
