Tinubu Swears In Taiwo Oyedele As Minister Of State For Finance
President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has sworn in Taiwo Oyedele as the Minister of State for Finance.
The swearing-in ceremony took place briefly at the State House Abuja on Monday.
Earlier, the Nigerian Senate confirmed Oyedele’s appointment after screening the nominee and approving him through a voice vote at the Committee of the Whole.
The confirmation was announced by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
President Tinubu had nominated Oyedele to serve as Minister of State for Finance, replacing Doris Uzoka-Anite.
The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the development in a statement issued to journalists.
Before his ministerial appointment, Oyedele served as the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, which played a key role in reviewing and restructuring Nigeria’s tax system.
Oyedele, who hails from Ikaram-Akoko in Ondo State, is widely known as an economist, accountant, and public policy expert.
He obtained a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy and Finance from Yaba College of Technology and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.
He also completed executive education programmes at several global institutions, including the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.
Oyedele spent 22 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he joined in 2001 and rose to become the Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.
In addition to his professional career, he serves as a professor at Babcock University and as a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
