President Bola Tinubu has concluded a high-level security meeting with service chiefs, intelligence heads, and the Inspector-General of Police at the State House, Abuja.
The meeting, which commenced at approximately 3 p.m., had in attendance National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and top military and intelligence officials, including:
Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa
Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede
Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla
Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar
Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Tosin Ajayi
Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Mohammed Mohammed
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun
While the exact agenda of the meeting remains undisclosed, it is believed to have centered on recent security threats, particularly the explosion at the Trans Niger Pipeline in Rivers State. The incident, which occurred around Bodo community in Gokana Local Government Area, follows threats by an unidentified group to target oil infrastructure amid ongoing political tensions in the state.
Additionally, key members of the National Assembly, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, were spotted arriving at the State House during the session. However, it remains unclear whether they were part of the meeting.
As security concerns escalate, the outcome of the discussions is expected to shape government strategies in addressing emerging threats across the country.
