Tinubu jets off to China, meets with Xi Jinping

Alongside the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, the President will meet with President Xi Jinping in China and will also meet with Chinese business leaders. On Thursday, August 29, President Bola Tinubu will leave Abuja for Beijing, China, for an official visit. Chief Ajuri Ngelale, a presidential aide, announced in a statement on Thursday that Tinubu would be spending a short time in the United Arab Emirates. According to the announcement, President Tinubu would be traveling with senior government officials.

It is revealed that President Tinubu was preparing for a second foreign trip, to China. According to an article, President Tinubu will deepen bilateral ties between Nigeria and China and participate in high-level discussions during the state visit, which is scheduled to take place in conjunction with the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. On Friday, August 23, 2024, President Tinubu arrived back in Abuja, the capital of the country, from his short visit for work in France. At around 2:25 in the morning, he touched down at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

In the hours following his arrival, the President swore in Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the 23rd Chief Justice of Nigeria, pending Senate approval. Kekere-Ekun began her service on Friday at approximately 11:40 a.m. when she signed the oath register in the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja. According to the account provided by his team, the President’s visit to France last Monday was a “brief work stay.”
