Tantita Dismisses Arson Allegation In Ondo, Says Oil Thieves Behind Negative Report

Tantita Security Services has denied claims circulating online that the home of Oloja Ayodele Omodogbe, a traditional leader in Okitipupa, Ondo State, was burned down after a dispute involving the firm’s state coordinator, Snr High Chief Idowu Asonja.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the company dismissed the allegations as “completely untrue, fabricated, and malicious,” maintaining that no such incident occurred in Okitipupa and that the story was aimed at tarnishing Asonja’s reputation.

Tantita argued that the reports may have been sponsored by people involved in crude oil theft and illegal bunkering, noting that similar accusations tend to arise whenever the firm steps up its security operations along the coastal belt.

The company urged the public to ignore what it described as a “false and malicious narrative,” emphasising that neither Asonja nor his team had any link to violent actions.

According to the statement, attempts to associate him with an event that never happened were “a deliberate ploy to discredit his efforts and undermine Tantita’s work in the state.”

It further noted that such claims usually surface when the company intensifies its fight against oil-related crimes. Tantita suggested that those whose illegal businesses are being disrupted may be spreading the story to distract from ongoing enforcement operations in Ondo’s coastal communities.
