The Movement for the Rights of Arogbo-Ibe (MRAI) has made history in a significant move towards preserving and sustaining the rich cultural heritage and promoting the shared interests of the Arogbo-Ijaw Kingdom by submitting a formal appeal to the President of the highest Socio-cultural organisation among the Ijaws, the Ijaw National Congress, (INC), Professor Benjamin Okaba. MRAI in their heartfelt letter date 29th July, 2025, seeks formal recognition of the Nine ancient clans of the Arogbo Ijaw Kingdom within the INC’s organisational structure. This appeal underpins the sacred roles of cultural preservation, historical justice, and inclusive representation. MRAI, while seeking the inclusion of the nine clans in Arogbo-Ijaw Kingdom, MRAI highlights the clans’ immense contributions to the entire Ijaw nation’s rich heritage. With a deep commitment to peaceful and unblemish dialogue as well as constructive engagement, MRAI’s appeal undoubtedly embodies the spirit of unity and progress that defines the entire Ijaw as a people in the Niger Delta Region.
