SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS OF ABDUCTED DOCTOR ARRESTED AFTER VISITING HIS HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT
Suspected kidnappers of Dr. Abu Babatunde, a medical doctor who was abducted in Auchi, Edo State, have reportedly been arrested after visiting the same hospital where he works to seek medical treatment.
According to available reports, the suspects were apprehended after bringing their sick baby to the facility, a development that led to their identification and subsequent arrest.
The arrest comes weeks after Dr. Babatunde was kidnapped alongside his younger brother along City Pride Road in the Igbira Camp area of Auchi on January 1, 2026.
During the period of captivity, the abductors reportedly demanded a ransom of ₦200 million. However, the doctor’s younger brother was later killed while in captivity. Dr. Babatunde eventually regained his freedom after spending 13 days with the kidnappers.
As of the time of filing this report, police authorities have not issued an official statement confirming the arrest or providing detailed information on the circumstances surrounding the suspects’ capture.
The development has nevertheless drawn public attention, highlighting ongoing security concerns and the persistent threat of kidnapping in parts of the country.
