Student bursary, Ondo state government rolls out N335m
The Ondo State Government has recently allocated N335 million in bursaries, scholarships, and financial aid to benefit 11,220 students from the state. This generous support was announced at a distribution event in Akure, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.
This move is part of a broader strategy by the state government to improve educational opportunities and lessen the financial strain on students. The funding aims to assist with educational costs and provide relief to students and their families.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa emphasized that this aid is not just financial support but also a testament to the government’s belief in the students’ potential. He outlined other educational initiatives, such as covering WASSCE fees for public secondary school students and renovating school facilities. Aiyedatiwa also acknowledged the crucial role of parents and guardians and urged the academic community to foster a supportive learning environment, aiming to help students become future leaders.
Additionally, Aiyedatiwa highlighted his administration’s achievements, including the recruitment and training of teachers and timely salary payments, as part of their commitment to strengthening the educational sector.
Education Commissioner Mr. Olaolu Akindolire praised the Governor’s dedication to student welfare, noting that students’ successes have been a source of pride for the state. He underscored the importance of education in building a brighter future for Ondo State. Mr. Ademola Kolawole, Administrative Secretary of the Ministry of Education, also stressed the long-term benefits of investing in education.
The President of the National Association of Ondo State Students (NAOSS), Mr. Oyelade Ahmed, expressed gratitude for the Governor’s focus on education. He highlighted that the financial support will alleviate many families’ burdens and expressed confidence in the Governor’s leadership. Overall, this initiative marks a significant enhancement in support for students and reflects the state government’s ongoing commitment to the education sector.
