At the federal Caption Territory (FCT) Abuja, Activist Omoyele Sowore appeared at the Federal High Court, yesterday as proceedings continued in the controversial case over his remarks describing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a criminal.

During the hearing, a witness from the Department of State Services (DSS) underwent cross-examination, with lawyers probing the details of the testimony.

The session drew significant attention, reflecting the high-profile nature of the trial.
Outside the courtroom, Sowore’s supporters gathered, holding placards and chanting slogans in defense of free speech.

Criticism of the government must not be criminalized,” one supporter told reporters, echoing a broader call for protection of civil liberties in Nigeria.

Sowore, a longtime pro-democracy campaigner, has remained at the center of public discourse, with social media abuzz under hashtags such as #FreeSpeech, #Sowore2027, and #RevolutionNowOrNever.

The case continues to spark debate about the limits of political dissent in Nigeria, as the court navigates the balance between national security concerns and constitutional rights.
