According to the Council, the planned activities by a faction within the community undermine established government directives and could further heighten tensions in the already divided community.
“The Council remains steadfast in its responsibility to protect the lives and property of residents. We will not allow any group to defy subsisting directives or derail the peace efforts of government,” the statement stressed.
The Council emphasized that no committee formation or inauguration will be allowed in Ogboinbiri henceforth without explicit government authorization.
Security agencies in and around Ogboinbiri have been instructed to enforce the directive by halting any such unauthorized activities scheduled for Sunday, October 26, 2025, or any future date.
Factional leaders and their supporters were also cautioned against actions capable of breaching public peace or undermining lawful authority.
The statement was issued on behalf of Hon. Target Isaiah Segibo, Executive Chairman, Southern Ijaw Local Government Council.
