The Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) Cooperative Society reaffirmed its commitment to transformative and efficient service delivery at its 21st Annual General Meeting, held Thursday at the Commission’s Head Office in Oba-Ile, Akure.
The event drew key figures from the Commission’s Management, the Ondo State Ministry of Commerce and Cooperative Services, and a large turnout of dedicated members, all gathered to reflect on past milestones and chart a bold future for the society.
In a rousing opening address, President of the Cooperative Society, Barrister B.Y. Gbamila, hailed the unyielding spirit of members and the collective drive that has sustained the cooperative for over two decades.
“I want to emphasize our total commitment to the ideals of cooperative business through meaningful engagement of all members, with a view to further repositioning the society,” Gbamila stated, setting a visionary tone for the gathering.
Acknowledging the pressing realities of the national economy, Gbamila delivered a timely charge to cooperators:
“Given the prevailing economic situation of the country, it is essential for our Cooperative Society to promote sound financial stewardship… encouraging cooperators to utilize their loans judiciously and seek out viable and sustainable investment opportunities.”
He stressed that financial literacy and strategic decision-making were not just personal virtues but collective strengths that would shield the society from broader economic shocks.
Commending the society’s operational transparency, Mr. Fasogbon, who represented the Ministry of Commerce and Cooperative Services, urged cooperators to maintain strict adherence to the society’s guiding principles. He praised the leadership’s diligence, highlighting it as a benchmark for other cooperatives in the state.
Adding to the accolades, Barrister Bayo Ololajulo, Director of Business and Investment Development, lauded the Executive Committee for its laser focus on members’ welfare and effective loan disbursement policies, describing the society’s growth as “a testament to vision and disciplined execution.”
The Cooperative’s Vice President, Mrs. A.O. Ogunsola, echoed these sentiments, reassuring members of the society’s readiness to deliver swifter and smarter services. “Our commitment remains firm—smooth, efficient service delivery at all times,” she affirmed.
The AGM also had in attendance an impressive lineup of senior OSOPADEC officials, including Barrister Pamela Olowoyo, Director of Legal Services; Mr. Tokunbo Idowu, Deputy Director, Accounts; Mrs. Remi Araulene, Deputy Director, ICT; Mrs. Bimpe Aletile, Deputy Director, Administration; Mrs. Kehinde Atimise, Deputy Director, Community Welfare; and Mrs. Bukola Kalejaiye, Deputy Director, Legal Services.
As the OSOPADEC Cooperative Society turns the page on another successful year, the message from the leadership is loud and clear: the future is one of agility, accountability, and shared prosperity.
