The National Working Committee (NWC) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has praised the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, for his resilience amid the political challenges in the state, recognizing him as the leader of the party in Rivers. The NWC also commended Fubara for his efforts in stabilizing the party in the state and countering destabilizing forces.

The NWC’s visit to Governor Fubara, who is also the Deputy Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, was part of ongoing consultative meetings with party leaders and governors to discuss ways to strengthen the party. After a closed-door session at the Government House in Port Harcourt, Ahmed Yayari Mohammed, the PDP National Treasurer, expressed the party’s approval of Fubara’s leadership in Rivers.

Mohammed highlighted a recent court ruling that had annulled the controversial party congresses in the state, which led to the appointment of new leaders to oversee party activities. He emphasized the NWC’s appreciation of the governor’s role in stabilizing and refocusing the party in Rivers.

Prior to the meeting with Governor Fubara, the NWC had also visited Governors Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, and Douye Diri of Bayelsa. The visits were intended to show Nigerians that the PDP is united and preparing for a strong comeback in the 2027 elections, aiming to regain power at both the federal level and in more states.

Mohammed also discussed the recent Court of Appeal ruling that reinstated Sir Ude Okoye as the party’s National Secretary, reiterating that the NWC supports Okoye and is working together to ensure the PDP is well-prepared for the future. He assured that no court ruling had overturned the Court of Appeal’s decision, and the NWC would continue to back Okoye as the National Secretary. The NWC remains committed to transforming the PDP and ensuring its success in the 2027 elections.
