The Executive Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, has reassured the people of the state of his unwavering commitment to peace, security, and constitutional governance despite the prevailing political impasse.
In a press statement, Governor Fubara emphasized that his administration has remained dedicated to protecting lives and property while ensuring continuous progress for Rivers State. He reiterated that all actions taken since assuming office were guided by his constitutional oath and a deep sense of duty.
Addressing the recent political tensions, the Governor highlighted his swift compliance with the Supreme Court’s judgment upon receiving the certified true copy, as well as his adherence to the peace terms brokered by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He noted that this included welcoming back commissioners who had previously resigned, in an effort to restore normalcy and stability.
However, Governor Fubara expressed concerns over continuous obstruction by members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, which, he said, has made genuine peace and governance challenging.
“Even in the face of political disagreements, governance has continued uninterrupted. Salaries have been paid, and transformative projects are being executed to advance the well-being and prosperity of our people. Most importantly, Rivers State remains safe and secure under our watch,” the Governor stated.
He urged all Rivers people to remain peaceful and law-abiding, assuring them that his administration will continue to engage with relevant institutions to uphold democracy and sustain the state’s development.
“We have always been a resilient people, and we will face this situation with wisdom, patience, and unwavering faith in the democratic process,” he concluded.
Governor Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that Rivers State thrives despite political challenges, while calling for collective efforts towards unity and progress.
