Reinstate NSCDC commandant_Niger Delta youths demand
Youths from the Niger Delta are calling for the reinstatement of Basil Igwebueze as the Rivers State Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). The South-South Youths Initiative has urged NSCDC Commandant General, Audi Ahmed, to reinstate Igwebueze.
In a statement released on Thursday, Imeabe Oscar, the group’s President, emphasized Igwebueze’s record of professionalism and effectiveness while in Rivers State. He highlighted Igwebueze’s successful efforts in tackling illegal bunkering activities and securing vital government assets, which have contributed to peace in the state and increased federal revenue.
Oscar said, “Professionalism is key when appointing heads of security agencies. We are pleased with how Commandant Basil Igwebueze has performed his duties, showing dedication and effectiveness in securing Rivers State and handling critical assets.”
Oscar expressed disappointment that such a competent officer is being redeployed just when his efforts are needed most. He noted that under Igwebueze’s leadership, confidence in the NSCDC has grown due to its high level of professionalism.
The group acknowledged the Commandant General’s efforts in posting capable officers but requested that Igwebueze be reinstated to continue his work in Rivers State. They commended Igwebueze’s responsiveness and service, asserting their support for his return to the state to further benefit the community and the South-South region.
Oscar concluded by expressing the group’s confidence in Igwebueze and their hope that the Commandant General will heed their request for his reinstatement.
