Regional ministry: PANDEF seeks swift action on Niger Delta
The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has expressed strong backing for the newly formed Ministry of Regional Development, urging it to focus on addressing long-overdue projects in the Niger Delta. This call was made during a courtesy visit to the ministry by PANDEF’s delegation, led by its National Chairman, Ambassador Godknows Igali, to the Minister of Regional Development, Engr Abubakar Momoh, and the Minister of State, Uba Ahmadu.
In addition, Igali highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s new coastal road project, designed to connect Lagos and Calabar, which will cover about 80% of the Niger Delta and boost trade and transportation in the region.

Reaffirming his commitment, Minister Momoh instructed the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to begin immediate palliative repairs on critical highways in the region, aiming to provide urgent relief to its infrastructure challenges.
The meeting concluded with both PANDEF and the Ministry agreeing to collaborate closely to prioritize the region’s development needs. Both sides expressed optimism that this partnership would bring substantial progress, offering renewed hope to the people of the Niger Delta.
