Regional Advancement: Movement for the Rights of Arogbo-Ibe Tasks Ijaw Communities to Drum Support for High Chief Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro
Ijaw Nation –The Movement for the Rights of Arogbo-Ibe has issued a passionate appeal to the Ijaw Communities across the Niger Delta, urging unwavering support for High Chief Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro, Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP). The group emphasised the importance of unity and regional solidarity for the advancement and progress of the Niger Delta.
In a statement issued and jointly signed by its Coordinator and Secretary, the Movement highlighted the values that define the Ijaw people, stressing, “Ijaw means truth; we should not lose our identity by failing to support and protect our own.” Drawing on the legacy of Ijaw hero, Isaac Adaka Boro, the Movement called for the Ijaw communities to reject the “spirit of betrayal, greed, and disunity,” which they described as “an evil that must be casted asiaside.
The Movement underscores the consequences of internal conflicts, stating, “Any individual or group that fights their own home, family, or community fights their own destiny.” They urged all Ijaw people to stand united with High Chief Dr. Dennis Otuaro and collaborate on regional development programmes that uplift the Niger Delta.
The Movement for the Rights of Arogbo-Ibe affirmed Dr. Otuaro’s longstanding reputation as a dedicated leader with deep-rooted concern for his people’s welfare, even before his appointment to the PAP. “The recent petition to the National Security Adviser is baseless and uncalled for,” the Movement declared, condemning the petitioners as “… distractors and enemies of progress.”
“No matter how much one does, it is impossible to satisfy everyone,” the statement concluded. “But as Ijaws, we must support those working for our collective growth, and that includes High Chief Dr. Dennis Otuaro.”
